Dr. Annemarie MATTHESS is agricultural economist (Ph.D.) graduated from Hohenheim University in Germany and worked 18 years as GIZ resident advisor in Africa.

From 2005 to mid 2009 she worked as Senior Planning Officer at GIZ-HQ Division 45 – Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Focal person at GIZ-HQ for the working group Sustainable Agribusiness of SNRD Africa (Sector Network Rural Development Africa)

Since August 2009, Annemarie Matthess works as GIZ-Teamleader at Cocoa Livelihoods Program in Ghana.

Areas of work: Large scale Business skills development for cocoa smallholdings and development of innovative Business Service models. Regional focus of activities is in Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon.

In value chain development, Annemarie covered Value chain promotion/Economic development in rural areas, professional organizations in agriculture and agri-business, innovation systems; Training courses on GIZ-ValueLinks and support to national capacity development; She contributed to the ValueLinks Manual.
